Happy mid-summer! I am happy to report that since our email earlier this month asking for volunteers and/or donations to our Lake Host program, many of you have answered the call. We have received just over $1,700.00 in donations, enough to extend paid ramp coverage by an extra 87 hours this summer. Shelley, Tom, Jayna, and I can attest that there is something special about quietly enjoying early mornings, afternoons, and evenings at the boat ramp, as evidenced by this photo I took a few weekends ago. If that looks and sounds appealing, we'd love to welcome you to join us as a volunteer Lake Host. The Keene Sentinel recently published two articles of interest: one about the prevalence of invasive species in New Hampshire lakes, and another about Lake Host programs working as the first line of defense to prevent their introduction. So far this year, our volunteer and paid Lake Hosts have checked in 321 boats! Click here for an interesting breakdown. If you’re interested in volunteering as a Lake Host or making a financial donation to our Lake Host Program, click here for the original communication with details on how to do both. Thank you all. Whether you donated, volunteered, or simply stopped to say hi at the ramp, you're part of what keeps Lake Warren healthy. David
